Happy Olive – high‑quality olive oil straight from the farmers
Happy Olive brings Cretan olive oil directly from producers without middlemen. The company’s story began when Merja, who originally moved to Crete to work as a tour guide and later became an olive farmer, noticed a major issue in the olive oil market: the oil was sold to large wholesalers, which meant both the product quality and the compensation farmers received suffered.
For this reason, Happy Olive decided to do things differently. The company sources olive oil directly from farmers, selecting the best early‑harvest batches from the beginning of the season, and transports it fresh by road to Finland. The oil is bottled in small batches at an olive oil mill in the village of Tsivaras, ensuring customers receive olive oil that is as fresh and high‑quality as possible.
Happy Olive delivers its products through its online store to consumers in Finland and Sweden from its warehouse in Tampere.
Understanding the business
Happy Olive’s business is built on quality, authenticity, and trust. The company aims to offer customers the freshest possible olive oil while ensuring farmers receive fair compensation for their products. As operations have grown, logistics have become increasingly important.
“The foundation of the business is that logistics work. In everyday life you may not notice it when everything runs smoothly, but the moment something goes wrong, the customer sees it. Reliable logistics are essential to the entire business,” the company notes.
Over the years, an active community has formed around Happy Olive. Customers share recipes, usage tips, and experiences with olive oil on social media. At the same time, they get a glimpse into the daily lives of Cretan farmers and can follow the journey of the products from olive groves to the dining table.
Customer expectations for deliveries have also grown. Fast delivery is now an assumed standard for many, yet Happy Olive continues to receive plenty of positive feedback for its delivery speed. Parcel lockers are also a natural delivery method for the company’s customer base.
“We receive some feedback about parcels lockers, but also a lot of praise. The locker network is extensive, and Finns are known to be fans of parcel lockers. This is reflected in our customers as well.”
PostNord’s solution
The cooperation between Happy Olive and PostNord began with deliveries to Sweden, where PostNord was a natural choice thanks to its strong market position and comprehensive distribution network. Once the collaboration proved successful, it later expanded to domestic deliveries in Finland.
Today, the most important metrics of the partnership are at a high level, according to Happy Olive.
“The cooperation works extremely well. Packages are delivered quickly, and both delivery speed and reliability look excellent,” says Joni Pyrstöjärvi from Happy Olive.
The expansion of the partnership has also brought practical benefits. With both Finnish and Swedish shipments handled by the same partner, pickups have become more efficient and daily operations run more smoothly.
PostNord’s extensive network has enabled Happy Olive’s growth in Sweden and helped the company offer a consistent delivery experience in both countries. At the same time, the collaboration has evolved alongside the company’s growth.
“We’ve never stood still — we continuously develop our operations. New initiatives are coming in the future as well, and it’s great that PostNord is there to support our growth.”
This allows Happy Olive to focus on what it does best: finding the finest olive oil batches from Cretan farmers and offering customers genuinely high‑quality taste experiences in Finland and Sweden.
